Downtown Brookings has a new "demand activated" warning light on Chetco Avenue near the Redwood Theater. The flashing light is activated by a pedestrian wanting to use the crosswalk. According to City Manager Gary Milliman, the continuously flashing light had been in place for some time and many motorists had become complacent to its existence. The City contributed $10,500 to the total $15,000 project cost. The reconfigured signal was installed by ODOT at the City's request.
