[ARCHIVED] Work Continues on City Street Projects

While work progresses on the reconstruction of Hassett Street, the sidewalk project along Easy Street at Kalmiospis has been delayed until summer, 2014. Overall, the Hassett Street Project is about 30 days behind schedule, mainly due to weather conditions. The grant-funded Easy Street project, which is being designed and managed by ODOT, has been delayed due to ODOT's protracted design process.

The $426,000 Hassett Street project will reconstruct the street between Pioneer Road and 7th Street, including new base material, paving, widening, curb and sidewalks, and storm drain installation.

According to Public Works and Development Director Loree Pryce, the City had been pressing hard to have ODOT complete the design and enviromental work so that the project could be accomplished during the summer break. Because the City wants to avoid construction during the school year, the project has been pushed out 12 months.
