Brookings 3rd Annual Monarch Festival Canceled
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — May 23, 2020
BROOKINGS, Ore. — The Board of Directors of Brookings Oregon Monarch Advocates (BOMA) has been closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19, and notably Governor Brown’s announcement that all large gatherings including festivals remain off-limits through at least September. Therefore, BOMA has decided, with deep sadness, to cancel the 2020 3rd Annual Brookings Monarch Festival (scheduled for Sep 5th in Azalea Park). Concerns and state regulations and guidelines associated with this novel coronavirus pandemic made the event no longer viable this year. It is our sincere regret that all of us who so love this festival, especially the children, their parents and the many monarch butterfly enthusiasts, will not get to enjoy the Monarch Festival this year. We will be back though! We look forward to seeing everyone at the September 2021 Monarch Festival. Until then, we will be planning smaller venues and events to celebrate what we hope will be another landmark year for the Brookings Monarchs. We advise you to “Like” us on Facebook at “BOMA 97415 (Brookings Oregon Monarch Advocates)”. We will post event notices there for your convenience, also where to get milkweed and answers to any questions about monarch butterflies you may have. Thank you for your understanding and please stay healthy.
