[ARCHIVED] Planning Underway for 81st Annual Azalea Festival

There is something new happening for the 2020 Azalea Festival!  The City of Brookings is coordinating the annual Memorial Day weekend event and preparations are already underway.  Forms are being finalized, lists completed, plans put in place and everything is looking towards a memorable 81st Azalea Festival!  Amber Nalls with the City of Brookings will be spearheading the coordination and has already made contact with festival participants and started the process to recruit vendors for the street fair.  Starting to plan early to coordinate the festival will help to make it successful as Azalea Festivals in the past, leading to the 2020 Azalea Festival theme “THE GLORY DAYS”.

New events are being planned and old ones will return including the parade, street fair on Frontage Road and the Curry County Cruisers car show just to name a few.  New events include a downtown street dance, family games and events in Azalea Park and the return of the Elks BBQ and community Sunday church service to Azalea Park.

Applications for the parade and vendor street fair are available at City Hall, 898 Elk Drive and on the City of Brookings website under the Visiting Tab and choose Azalea Festival.

Volunteers are needed to help with Azalea Festival activities throughout the weekend, if you or your organization would like to help or if you are planning Azalea Festival weekend activities and would like to be included in the festival schedule please contact Amber Nalls at City Hall, 541-469-1137 or analls@brookings.or.us.
