[ARCHIVED] City of Brookings to Offer ePermitting Training to Contractors

The City of Brookings Building Department is pleased to announce the availability of “ePermitting”, the state online building permit application and tracking system. Contractors are able to apply for, check progress, submit plans and schedule inspections on building permits online via the ePermitting website at www.BuildingPermits.Oregon.gov.

In 2003 (SB 713) and in 2007 (HB 2405), the Oregon Legislature adopted bills that created a voluntary statewide ePermitting system to improve contractor access to building permits and services. The ePermitting system builds upon the benefits of statewide code standards by providing a uniform platform for online streamlined access to building services.

The City joins a growing list of local jurisdictions in offering electronic ePermitting services statewide to provide:

  • Online access to apply, receive and track building permits 24/7.
  • Automated inspection scheduling via phone, smart phone, text message or computer.
  • Comprehensive permit tracking and data collection.
  • Electronic plan review.
  • Mobile app for inspectors and contractors.

On Tuesday, August 20th, from noon to 1:30 pm the City working with the Oregon Building Codes Division will offer ePermitting training to contractors on how to use the system. The training is free and will be held in the City Hall EOC building at 898 Elk DriveContractors and their staff are encouraged to attend. Staff from the Oregon Building Codes Division will be available after the training to answer questions and help contractors set up and use the system.  For more information please contact Garrett Thomson at 541-469-1135 or gthomson@brookings.or.us.
