[ARCHIVED] City Opens Registration for Recreation Leagues

The City of Brookings Parks and Recreation will open registration for adult Co-ed and Men’s softball beginning May 13, 2019. The City will be operating the softball league after Brookings Harbor Softball Association, a local non-profit who has run the league for decades, declined to run the program this year.

The City of Brookings has invested nearly two million dollars in reconfiguring the Azalea Park Ball field complex, including the addition of lights for night time play, a paved parking lot and full restrooms, concession stand and playground. “The lights open the league up for more participation says Public Works Director Tony Baron. “Individuals and families will benefit from later start times as they won’t be in a rush to get to a game after work”.

The City plans to establish schedules for softball with start times at 6, 7:30 and 9 pm.  Team registration will be $500.00.  Payments can be made at City hall, for any questions please contact Jay Trost at jtrost@brookings.or.us.  The league will begin the first week of June and run through August 31st.

The City is also recruiting for Umpires.  If you are interested please Contact Jay Trost at 541-469-1138 or jtrost@brookings.or.us.  Umpires will be paid based on qualifications.

We are very excited to provide adult recreational opportunities to the community, and look forward to making this a fun annual league!
