[ARCHIVED] Railroad Pedestrian Signal Completes Cove Road Project

The installation of a pedestrian crosswalk on Railroad at Wharf last week completed the $404,434 Cove Road realignment project. The pedestrian crosswalk includes button-activated warning flashers for pedestrians wishing to cross Railroad.

The total project, paid for with System Development Charge fees collected from new development eliminated the Railroad Street/Cove Road intersection, realigned Cove Road onto Memory Lane and included installation of a combine pedestrian and bicycle facility on the west side of Railroad. In exchange for the right of way needed to realign Cove Road, the project also included the construction of Superfly Distilling Company Bar & Grill’s new parking lot.

The City has recently applied for some $2.5 million in federal road funds to reconstruct Railroad from Memory to Oak Street in the same configuration.
