[ARCHIVED] Railroad Street Work to Begin Again

Work on the Railroad Street reconstruction project is scheduled to re-commence on April 30, Brookings City Manager Gary Milliman said today.

The construction schedule calls for the installation of traffic control signs on April 30 with construction to begin the following day.  Completion of work on Railroad is scheduled for July 11.  The contractor will also be installing a related drainage swale on Tanbark Road, and that work is scheduled for July 10-30.

Traffic will be one-way during most of the construction period.

Tidewater Contractors plans to complete work along the north side of the street first and then switch to the south side in early June.

The construction schedule is posted on the City’s website and will be updated periodically to reflect changes.

There will be a hiatus in construction activity on the day of the Azalea Parade, May 26, to allow for the diversion of traffic from Highway 101 to Railroad.

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is contributing $2.010 million to the $2.6 million project.

“The first phase of the project was about $200,000 under budget, and we will be working to keep it that way,” Milliman said.
