The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs (ODVA) is partnering with local County Veteran Service Offices for the first-ever provider summit series centered on expanding physical and mental health services and improving outcomes for women veterans in the state. ODVA and the Josephine County Veteran Service Office are pleased to announce the She Also Served Provider Summit will be coming to Grants Pass, Josephine County Fairgrounds Flower Building on October 27, 2016, 8:00 – 4:30 p.m.
“Women are often overlooked in the conversation about how best to provide support services to our nation's veterans, yet their experiences are unique and bring with them specific needs and challenges,” said Elizabeth Estabrooks, ODVA Women Veterans Coordinator. “We are inviting providers from across the social service system to meet one another and increase our community's knowledge base and skill set for serving this population.”
The She Also Served summits include presentations, networking opportunities and other sessions exploring effective ways to serve women veterans. The summits are open to mental, physical and behavioral health specialists from Josephine, Douglas, Klamath, Curry, and Jackson counties, including doctors, nurses, mental health counselors and substance abuse treatment providers.
