[ARCHIVED] Thomson Appointed Brookings Building Official

The appointment of Garrett Thomson as Building Official for the City of Brookings was announced today by City Manager Gary Milliman.

Thomson will replace long-time Building Official LauraLee Snook who retires September 30 after 17 years of service in the position.

In addition to performing building inspection and plan checking duties, Thomson will also serve as the City’s public works inspector and code enforcement officer.

Thomson has worked for the City since June 2015 as a Utility Worker and recently completed several inspection certification examinations. He has been working closely with Snook for several months.

Thomson received an Associate’s degree in civil engineering from Umpqua Community College and has previously worked in private industry as a draftsman, construction worker, forest products worker and welder.

“We are happy to be able to promote Garrett from within the organization,” Milliman said. “He has worked very hard to prepare for his new role.”
