The Brookings Harbor Garden Club will continue to maintain the City-owned landscaping along Frontage Road, adjacent to Bankus Fountain and at City Hall under an agreement approved by the Brookings City Council this week.
“The Garden Club has been doing an excellent job with this work for the past three years,” said City Manager Gary Milliman.
An additional landscaped area will soon be added to the Garden Club maintenance realm along Chetco Avenue as the City has reached an agreement with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the owners of the new Mini Pet Mart store to expand the landscaping into the ODOT right-of-way area in front of the store.
The Brookings Harbor Garden Club also currently maintains the Botanical Gardens located on the northeast corner of Chetco Avenue and North Bank Chetco River Road. The Botanical Gardens presents native plants, a riparian rain garden, a rock garden, dwarf conifers and more.
