[ARCHIVED] Maintenance Project Scheduled at Wastewater Treatment Plant

Extensive rust removal and repainting of piping and equipment will take place at the Wastewater Treatment Plant this summer. “The City has been out to bid for this work three times and even solicited bids directly from local contractors. The potentially explosive environment of portions of the work area makes the project more complicated than it first appears” according to Public Works and Development Services Director LauraLee Snook. “The corrosive effects of salt air and methane gas have taken its toll on the facility and the project cannot be postponed any longer” said Snook.

Western Partitions, Inc of Tigard Oregon has been awarded the contract in the amount of $73,372 and is scheduled to start the work in early August. Systems Replacement Fee (SRF) funds will be used to finance the project. SRF is a sub category of Systems Development Fees which are assessed and collected when building permits are issued for new construction.
