[ARCHIVED] Contract Awarded for Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements

Brookings’ Wastewater Treatment Plant will undergo an extensive improvement project to remove rust from pipes and valves and then to apply a rubberized elastomeric coating which will seal the equipment, preventing future rust issues.

City Council approved a contract with Western Partitions from Tigard, Oregon for the $73,372 project which will be funded with Systems Replacement Funds.

The improvements, which will extend the useful life of the components, will address and correct conditions identified by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

City Manager Gary Milliman said, “It is a proactive solution for keeping the issue from devolving into a matter of health and safety.”

Project completion is set for September 30, 2016.
