[ARCHIVED] Hassett Street Project Is Now Underway

Reconstruction of Hassett Street from Pioneer Lane to 7th Street is now underway. The $426,777 project involves complete street reconstruction, as well as drainage improvements, paving, and sidewalks on one side of the street.

The City receives approximately $125,000 annually from System Replacement Charges collected with monthly water and sewer utility bills. Additional funding for the Hassett Street project was allocated from System Development Charges…fees paid from new development… and owners of property along Hassett which are subject to deferred improvement agreements will also be contributing to the project cost.

““This is our major street improvement project for the year,” Mayor Hedenskog said.
"We plan to allocate at least $250,000 annually for our ongoing street improvement program.”

The contractor for this project is McLennan Excavation, Inc., of Brookings.
