The appointment of Teresa “Teri” Davis to the position of City Recorder for the City of Brookings, effective upon the retirement of current City Recorder Joyce Heffington, is scheduled for approval by the City Council at its meeting of March 28, 2016.
The City Recorder serves as the administrative assistant to the City Manager and the City Council, as well as the City’s elections officer and keeper of official City records.
Davis has served as Administrative Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Englewood, Ohio, for the past 15 years, where she also previously served as Secretary to the Chief of Police and as a Police/Fire Dispatcher for six years.
A U.S. Army veteran, Davis received a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from Franklin College and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Dayton.
Davis has been active in various volunteer capacities and was recently recognized for her outstanding service by the Northmont Band Boosters in Englewood.
“Teri Davis’ extensive experience in handling an array of complex duties such as preparing legislation, website design and maintenance, records management, providing City Council support, writing and editing reports and press releases, special events planning and social media administration is just the right fit for our needs,” said City Manager Gary Milliman.
“I feel so fortunate to have been selected as the new City Recorder for Brookings and want to thank the City Council and City Manager for this opportunity. I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone and getting to know the town and all it has to offer,” Davis said.
“There is something about Brookings that immediately makes you feel comfortable and welcome. I know I will already feel right at home the moment I arrive,” Davis said.
Davis will begin her employment with the City of Brookings on March 28, 2016, and will work with outgoing City Recorder Heffington for several weeks during a transition period.
