Oregon is proposing to use HUD funds to help launch the first demonstration projects in Brookings and Reedsport. Requested funds will help our communities recover from recent disasters, and improve resilience in future disasters including floods, winter storms, future climate and Cascadia earthquake/tsunami.
Proposed activities include 1) removing homes from the tsunami flood zones and building new low-moderate income homes on high ground, 2) protecting local water supplies to help maintain medical services and emergency reserves after earthquake shaking, and much more.
