[ARCHIVED] Trees to be Removed at Azalea Park

The removal of 37 trees along Lundeen Lane at Azalea Park has been approved by the Brookings City Council.

The tree removal was requested by Coos Curry Electric Cooperative (CCEC) after a tree fall during a storm in December 2014 that nearly missed a 115,000 volt transmission line and a 7,200 volt distribution line that run along Lundeen Lane.

Citing public safety concerns, the City Council approved the removal of the trees, which will be replaced with smaller trees and vegetation set back further from the power lines.
