The City of Brookings will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the Azalea Park Disc Golf Course on Wednesday, July 22nd at noon. The course was approved by the City Council in April.
The nine-hole disc golf course was jointly funded by local business sponsorships and City Parks capital improvement project funds. The baskets were fabricated by the BHHS Robotics Team, and the course was installed by City Public Works & Parks crews along with Ethan Warner for his Eagle Scout project.
An additional nine holes are planned for Fall 2015. R.A.R.E. Americorps participant Austin Dunn designed the course and coordinated the work for the project. “It was truly inspiring to see this community come together to make it happen,” Dunn said of the project.
