[ARCHIVED] Fuel Tax Information Meetings Set

Two public information meetings on the proposed Brookings Fuel Tax Measure will be held during April, City Manager Gary Milliman said today.

The first will be held April 2 in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 898 Elk Drive. A second meeting will be held on April 20 at the Chetco Community Public Library on Alder Street. Both meetings are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

The meetings will include presentations by Public Works & Development Director Loree Pryce on the condition of the City’s streets and by Finance & Human Resources Director Janell Howard on the various street maintenance and construction funding sources and budgets.

Milliman will discuss how the tax Measure was developed, the basic provisions of the Measure and implementing Ordinance, and how the funds would be used.

The management team will also respond to questions concerning the Measure.

“We will not be advocating for passage of the Measure at this meeting,” Milliman said. “The Mayor and the City Council will be handling that aspect.”
