The City of Brookings new public notification system for pending private development permit applications within the City Limits is now up and running. To sign up to receive automatic notice of pending private development permit applications, follow the link provided below.
Comments regarding pending applications may be submitted in writing to the Public Works & Development Department at City Hall, 898 Elk Drive, Brookings, OR 97415.
Notification of pending private development permit applications will go out each Friday afternoon. The comment period will be at least one week from the date the notice is posted, and may be longer, depending on the project. Permit applications that are extended beyond the initial pending approval date will appear on the next development notification.
Generally, applications fall into two categories; those with an outright use which will be reviewed for compliance with the Brookings Municipal Code, and those requiring a land use action, such as a parcel division or conditional use. Both categories of application are reviewed by the City's Site Plan Committee. Permit applications that do not fall under the outright use category will be forwarded to the Planning Commission for compliance to State and City planning regulations and any property owner within 250 feet of the proposed development will receive individual notice of the required land use hearing.
Information in the notice will include the address, a brief description of the project, comments (if applicable) and the anticipated date of approval. Dates of approval may be extended beyond the initial pending approval date, depending on the status of the project.
