[ARCHIVED] Public Meeting to Discuss Community Recreation Center Possibilities

A Community Recreation Center Task Force meeting will be held Thursday, October 23, 6:00 PM, at the Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder Street in Brookings.

The City of Brookings has partnered with the Friends of the Brookings Harbor Aquatic Center to form a Community Recreation Center Task Force. The task force, comprised of various community representatives including the Parks and Recreation Commission, will be focusing on the next steps to establish a year-round recreational facility in Brookings.

A recent visit by task force representatives to several recreation centers along the Oregon Coast and Grants Pass found the Tillamook and Grants Pass YMCA's to be exceptional, economically sustainable facilities and has invited their directors to visit Brookings and discuss their successes at this public meeting. Anyone interested in supporting a year-round aquatics and recreational facility in Brookings is welcome to attend.
