[ARCHIVED] City Management and Supervisory Staff to Participate in Emergency Operations Training.

Brookings City management and supervisory employees will participate in an intensive, three day, emergency preparedness training program in the City’s Emergency Operations Center. During the training, services offered at City Hall will be limited.

The City’s goal for the training is to have a core group of well-trained staff able to perform all of the common functions of an EOC, including coordination of emergency response, logistical support, securing outside assistance and keeping the public informed during a disaster incident.

While the utility payment window at City Hall will maintain its normal hours of operation, City Manager, City Recorder, Planning, Building, Public Works and Parks offices will be closed. Police and Fire Department management will also participate in the training, and several emergency managers from other agencies also plan to participate.

The much sought-after training is being provided through Texas A & M University’s Engineering Extension Service. The City put in its request for the free training to Oregon Emergency Management early in 2012.
