[ARCHIVED] City to Debut New "Quick Attack" Fire Vehicle

A new quick attack vehicle will soon arrive at the Brookings Fire Department, providing more versatility for emergency responses. The vehicle will replace an existing 1993 first-response truck that had more limited capacity.

The new four-wheel drive crew cab will be equipped with a pump from an existing fire vehicle, a 250 gallon water tank and medical and first aid supplies to address medical incidents and wildland fire threats.

The new, small pumper/rescue vehicle will be more versatile and cost effective to operate and reduce the need to dispatch one of the larger fire trucks to handle smaller fires and rescues.

The existing truck will be retrofitted with foam-dispensing equipment and materials for use at Brookings Airport, which is now in the City limits. The truck will be housed at an aircraft hanger facilitated by Cal Ore Life Flight.

In addition to lands within the City Limits, the City also contracts to provide fire and rescue services to the Upper Chetco and Brookings Rural Fire Districts.
