[ARCHIVED] Treatment Plant Gets New Diesel Tank

Photo of old and new tank

The Brookings Wastewater Treatment Plant has a new diesel fuel tank. The $41,500 project to replace the aging tank was completed this week.

The old tank had accumulated five inches of water in the annular seal and was showing signs of failure. The replacement was necessary to prevent fuel leakage from occurring.

The capacity of the new tank is the same as that of the old one; 2,000 gallons. The diesel fuel is used to power various equipment at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, including the emergency generator.

Both the City and Harbor Sanitary District are served by the Brookings plant.
