[ARCHIVED] Brookings Using Video to Attract Tourists, Residents

The City is going after the broadest audience possible with a trio of video programs and a series of television ads aimed at attracting more visitors and residents to Brookings. TV ads have been running on KOBI Channel 5 out of Medford since the start of summer and two video programs are currently under production with the third to be considered by the City Council on October 14.

Apple Box Media Group will be producing four internet videos highlighting Brookings as a vacation and retirement destination. CGI Communications/Relocate.org will be producing an informational community video designed to attract new residents. CGI hosts over 15,000 community videos on its relocate.org website. CGI has also been contacting local businesses who may be interested in advertising on the site.

Both Apple Box Media Group and CGI will be filming in the area this month, with CGI returning in the spring for a second round of video.

If approved, a contract with Makai Ohana Productions will produce a 30 minute show to be aired on the syndicated "Oregon Lifestyles" program, hosted by on-air personality Terri-Lynn Kalgagen.

In addition to the video programs, the City also contracted earlier this year with KOBI Channel 5, out of Medford, to run a series of advertisements during the tourist season with the intent to bring visitors to the Brookings area from the Rogue Valley.
