Geographical Information System (GIS) Services

What is GIS?

A Geographic Information System, or GIS, is a holistic structure for integrating all kinds of data. Often this data is collected and then displayed on a digital map so information can be referenced and analyzed. The City of Brookings uses GIS to keep track of many types of information in an effort to streamline processes, increase efficiencies, and improve customer service.

The City of Brookings GIS is housed under the Public Works and Development Services Department in City Hall. Services are provided to all City departments including Public Safety, Water, Finance, and the City Manager's office. Data on City assets is continually being collected toward a comprehensive program of information. Data will be made available to the public as it becomes fully developed.

Brookings GIS has partnered with the City of Gold Beach and Curry County to develop the website, CurryMap.org. The site provides information from the County Assessors office.
