This page provides information and links regarding City elections. 

Initial measure and candidate filings are made through the City Election Officer.  Elections are coordinated and conducted by the Curry County Elections office

Only registered City of Brookings residents may vote on City measures and City Council candidates.  

The Mayor (two year term) and two of the four Councilor positions (four year terms) are up for election every two years.   Elections are held in even years.

On-line voter registration is available on the Oregon Secretary of State website.  Ballots may also be obtained at the Brookings U.S. Post Office, located on

Marijuana Tax Measure
 

Under State Law, the voters of a City can approve an ordinance to impose a tax of up to three per cent (3.0 %) on the sale of marijuana items in the City by a licensed marijuana dealer.

The Brookings City Council has placed an ordinance to impose such as tax on the ballot for the November 8, 2016, election.  The tax would apply to marijuana concentrates, extracts, edibles and other products intended for human consumption and use.

If approved by the voters, the tax would become effective immediately.
